BACKGROUND OF THE CLINIC
The Medical Specialist Outreach Assistance Program (MSOAP) has been made possible by funding from the Commonwealth Government under the Department of Health and Ageing.
The Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing has contracted the NSW Rural Doctors Network (RDN) to manage a component of the program in NSW. The NSW RDN is responsible for the overall administration of MSOAP for ‘private specialist’ services in NSW.
The RDN have contracted the Mid North Coast Division of General Practice to develop, establish and maintain a Specialist Outreach Clinic in Coffs Harbour. Please note this is a shared care clinic with GPs and Visiting Medical Specialists. This project was commenced to bring Specialists into Rural areas and has been in operation since February 2002 in Coffs Harbour.
We continue to provide patient services in:
- Dermatology
- Respiratory
- Parkinson’s Clinic
- Psychiatry
- Neurology NCS & EEGs

Dermatology
Dr Rodney Hannaford MBBS, FRACGP, FACD

Dermatology Nurse: Jan Riley MNurs (NP), RN, DNC, MRCNA.
The Dermatologists are here for 4 days a month on rotation and are accompanied by a Dermatology Registrar as well as a Dermatology Nurse.
It is important to note that this is a shared care clinic and depending on the nature of your visit you may not always see the same Dermatologist. However where possible, we endeavour to do so.
Respiratory Physician
Prof. Peter Gianoutsos Clinical Associate Professor
Prof Gianoutsos is the Senior Respiratory Physician at RPAH in Sydney and has recently retired from his Private Practice but has retained his academic position in the University of Sydney as well as his consultant position at RPAH. Clinics are held for 2 days a month.
Parkinson’s Clinic
Dr Arun Aggarwal MBBS,FRACP,FAFRM(RACP),FFPM(ANZCA), PhD
Dr Aggarwal is a consultant Neurologist who works out of Concord Hospital at the Parkinson’s Disease Clinic. He is accompanied at each clinic by a Specialist Parkinson’s Disease Nurse, an Occupational Therapist and a Physiotherapist. These clinics are held on the first Wednesday of each month.
Psychiatry
Dr Donald Lawrence MBBS (syd) DPM (Lond) FRANZCP
Dr Robyn Bradley MB BS FRANZCP
Dr James Zurek BMBS, BSc(Hons), M.Psychiatry, FRANZCP
Dr Lawrence spends 2-3 days per month at our clinic. He also provides services in Nambucca.
Dr Bradley provides a service for 2 days a month. Dr Zurek provides a service for 2 days a fortnight.
Neurologist
Dr Andre Loiselle FRACP,MBChB, BHB
Dr Loiselle travels up from Newcastle accompanied by his technician, Gina Page, who performs Nerve Conduction Studies at the clinic. Dr Loiselle attends our clinic for 2 days a month.
EEG Technician
Genevieve Dellar
EEG testing is performed at our clinic on a fortnightly basis. These tests are then sent to Dr Loiselle for reporting only. Should you need to see a Neurologist, a referral needs to be obtained from your GP.
GENERAL INFORMATION
This is a not-for-profit organisation and was set up to allow easier access to specialists to save patients having to travel to outlying areas.
This is a Fee for Service Clinic and no accounts will be given. Consultation fees will be advised at the time of booking and must be paid at the time of consultation. We can reimburse Medicare rebate at the same time.
OFFICE HOURS
The office is only open when we have a visiting Specialist on site. The answering machine will advise you when the clinic will next be open.

Complaints regarding MNCSOC staff should be addressed in writing or verbally to Carol Banks, Clinic Coordinator. All complaints will be reviewed by the MNCSOC Service Coordinator and the CEO of the Division. This process shall also be used for compliments and expressions of gratitude.
