Building the Local Mental Health Team

A successful evening of networking, communication, collaboration and joint learning was held on the 14th November 2007 at Aanuka Beach resort, Coffs Harbour. It was attended by 15 GPs, 3 psychiatrists, 5 mental health nurses, 20 psychologists, 2 social workers, 3 Headspace workers and a wide variety of clinicians from the State area mental health  teams. The evaluations from the evening strongly indicated that networking and interaction between a wide variety of professionals was valuable. As well the opportunity for interdisciplinary clinical education was welcomed as multidisciplinary viewpoints can be considered in client/patient care.
