Severe Weather Disaster Planning

The protocol in event of severe weather warning for the people in Northern Rivers, Mid North Coast, and eastern parts of the Northern Tablelands with flash flooding expected in the NSW North and Mid North Coast from Yamba to Taree.

For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES on 132 500.

Up to date Information is available through TV and Radio broadcasts; the Bureau of Meteorology's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 218.

The Division will seek to identify Practices that may require support in the area of disaster preparedness to mitigate the risk/impact and also disaster recovery so that we may assist you in returning to normal operations as soon as possible and mitigate any further losses.

We will seek to support practices where possible within our own means and/or seek to access other appropriate areas of support.  Should you require assistance to address any of the following (or issues not covered) please contact the Division so that we may identify and assist with possible solutions:

  • Disruptions to bookings, patient access etc – communication to advise patients?
  • IM support, records management, recovery etc.
  • Physical (infrastructure damage) site impact – seek alternatives to maintain services
  • Disruptions to auxiliary services (i.e. Pathology, Allied Health, Area Health)
  • Workforce (Practice Staff, GP or Nursing) disruptions
